As you may know, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and U.S. Youth Soccer (USYS) mandated changes to the age groupings of all players that will took effect for the 2016-2017 season, beginning on August 1st 2016. From that point on, players will be placed on teams based upon the calendar year in which they were born for the travel programs (all age groups) within the Boyertown Soccer Club.
As parents and coaches, the BSC Board understands that these changes may cause confusion and unwanted changes among current teams. Many of us on the Board have children whose teams will be affected by these changes too. However, we believe it is vitally important to adhere to the national standard being established so that soccer in the United States can fall in line with youth developments on the international level. These changes will be implemented beginning on August 1, 2016 by BSC and all surrounding Clubs.
Additionally the Leagues in which our teams participate and the tournaments which our teams will attend will also be adhering to these changes. The upcoming April 2019 try-outs for the 2019-2020 travel soccer season will be conducted under these age groupings. These age group changes are also accompanied by changes in the size of the fields on which each group will play, as well as the number of players on the field during game play. We are in the process of making arrangements to accommodate these changes and we anticipate your continued support. We look forward to continuing to be a place for players and parents to enjoy coming together to play and watch the beautiful game.
